Welcome!

Dear Team Manager,

On behalf of Shenley Leisure Centre I would like to wish you a warm welcome to our 6’aside football leagues. I am pleased to confirm that your team have been placed in our football league.

Please find enclosed a copy of the fixtures for the winter/spring league, along with the manager’s rules, league rules and league format information.

 

Please read carefully all rules and

regulations in this handbook.

All rules stated must not be breached, if they are

they will be strictly implemented!

Shinpads:

All players MUST wear shinpads with socks covering

Referees are within their rights to refuse to start a game when players are not wearing shinpads.

ANY PLAYER NOT WEARING SHINPADS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY!

Jewellery:

All jewellery must be removed or taped up on request of the referee.

Managers Guide

 1.       There is a minimum of 4 players required for a game to go ahead for a 6’ aside match.

If the game has to be forfeited due to a lack of players there will be a forfeited/ cancellation fee of £46 to be paid (Yours and your opponents match fee). Borrowing players from other teams will not be allowed in the leagues from now on.

 

2.       DISCIPLINE:

 All caution details are reported to the coordinator at the end of the night.

Any player issued with a yellow card will receive a £5 fine.

Any Player that is given two cautions (yellow cards) in a period of five games will receive a £5 fine per caution and a one match ban.

Any Player that is issued with a red card will receive a £10 fine and a minimum of a one match ban.

In the event of the player refusing to pay the fine, the Team/ Club will be liable for this payment.

 FINES MUST BE PAID BEFORE YOUR TEAMS NEXT GAME!!

         

Winter/ Spring Football League

& Cup Format

League:

          The league is run on a Tuesday evening between the hours of 7pm to 9pm. Both pitches are used for the league; pitch 1 will be used from 7.00 - 8pm and pitch 2 will be used from 7.45 – 8.45pm. Two referees are employed to ref every Tuesday night, they rotate there shifts on a weekly basis, either 7 – 8pm or 7.45 – 8.45pm.

 Cup:

          The cup competition runs throughout the season, the matches will be 28 minutes long and a cost of £23 per game, for the exception of the semi-finals & final which will be played at no cost.

Outdoor 6-a-Side Football League Rules

 

The Football League Coordinator has the last say and makes the final decision when disputes arise!

 

1a.       MATCH FEES OF £23 PER TEAM PER WEEK must be paid prior to the game; a receipt of payment will be handed out and must be given to the referee, if no receipt of payment is provided to the ref then the game will be classed as a forfeited/ cancelled match.

 

b.         Any team owing money for previous missed games will not be permitted to play their next match until all fees are paid.

 

2.         Match Postponements & Cancelled / Forfeited Games:

 

All teams are allowed to postpone a maximum of one match. In order to postpone a league game the TEAM MANGER must contact the Leisure Centre’s Operations Manager on duty no later than 10am Monday morning before the match on Tuesday.

 

If you fail to inform the leisure centres Operation Manager before 10am Monday then you will receive a £46 Fine (opponents weekly match fee as well as your own). This will be classed as a forfeited/ cancelled match. Your team will also suffer a 3-0 defeat to your opponents.

 

If a team postpones more than one match than they will have to pay a £46 Fine (opponents weekly match fee as well as your own) and a 3-0 defeat.

 

If you postpone a match you may be required to play two games in one night.

 

3.         Failure to arrive in time for a fixture or a no-show without giving notice of non-attendance will result in a 3-0 win to the opposition. This will also count if you do not have enough players to fulfil your fixture.

 

4.         Each Team will consist of six players, one of whom shall be a goalkeeper.   A team shall not take to the field of play with less than four players, one of whom shall be the goalkeeper.

 

5.         Each team can use roll on roll off style substitutes during the course of the game at any time with the permission of the referee.

 

6.         All players must be 16yrs and above. Players (including the goalkeeper) must wear uniform football kit (including shin-pads under calf-length socks). Goalkeepers must wear a distinct jersey different from the players of both teams.

 

7.         NO BOOTS with screw in studs or blades are to be worn on the Astro-turf area UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Only trainers, astro boots or moulded studs can be worn.

 

8.                     All players must have had their photo taken (team captain’s responsibility)

and submitted to SLC by the first round of fixtures, any player that has not submitted their photo after this time will not be eligible to play until it has.

           

9.         The Duration of the match shall be of 28 minutes played in two equal halves of 14 minutes. The half time interval shall not exceed 1 minute. A centre kick will be taken for kick-off and restart after a goal.

 

10.       Shenley leisure centre will provide a suitable size 5match ball.

 

11.       There is no offside and a goal can be scored from any part of the playing area except inside the goal area.

 

12.       Only the defending goalkeeper is allowed inside the goal area and may handle the ball only in this area.

 

Penalty for intentional encroachment into the goal area:

-        by another member of the defending team, a penalty kick;

-        by any member of the attacking team "Goalkeepers ball".

 

NOTE: Accidental entry into the goal area by any player that has no effect on play may not be penalised.

 

 

13.       After receiving the ball, a goalkeeper must return it into play using an underarm action within 6 seconds without intentionally time-wasting. Failure to do so will result in a free-kick being awarded to the opposing team, 3 yards from the point of exit from the goal area, opposing players constantly stopping a goalkeeper from returning the ball into play will be penalised.

 

14.       The ball may not be directly returned to the goalkeeper by the receiving player of the      same team (must touch two players). If it is, a free kick will be awarded to the opposing team 3 yards from the point of entry.

 

15.       The goalkeeper is not allowed to play the ball outside the goal area. A penalty will be awarded for a deliberate offence. Intention will be adjudged by the referee.

 

 

16.       If the ball goes above head height a free kick will be awarded against the team that last played or touched the ball. If the ball deflects of a goalkeeper and goes above head height, play will resume with the goalkeeper returning the ball into play.

Above head height will be adjudged by the referee.

 

17.       There will be no direct free kicks except penalty kicks. No arm signals will be given for in-direct free kicks, if dissent is shown to any free kick the ball can be moved forward a further five yards and could result in a penalty kick, as in rule 15.          

           

18.       Infringement or refusal to withdraw the full 3 yards from a free-kick by an opposing player will result in the referee positioning the free-kick 5 yards nearer the goal of the offending team. If this infringement takes place within 5 yards of the goal a penalty kick will be awarded against the offending team.

 

19.       For persistent dangerous play (including reckless charging particularly near the boards, tackles from behind and slide tackles), violent conduct and foul and abusive language, the referee may at his discretion award a penalty kick against the offending team, no matter where the offence takes place.

           

20.       All caution details are reported to the coordinator at the end of the night.

Any player cautioned will receive a £5 fine; two cautions in a period of 5 games will result in a £5 fine per caution & a 1 match ban. Any player sent off will receive a minimum of a 1 match ban (league coordinator will decide how long the suspension will last) and a £10 fine.

 

21.       The referee’s decision is final. The referee will use his discretion at all times and play advantage when possible to keep the game flowing.

 

22.       The following method of allocating points will be used:

 

            - 3 points for a win

            - 1 point for a draw

            - 0 points for a loss or no-show

 

23.       In the event of two teams being level at the end of the league season (winners or runners up), goal difference will be taken into account, and then goals scored.

 

24.       Transfers – Teams are allowed to transfer in new players throughout the duration of the season. Ensure there are no more than 16 players in any squad at any time. Any player used must provide a signed photo before they play.

There will be no transfer of players from one team to another for the duration of the league

 

 

ALL TEAMS MUST BE AFFILIATED TO THE BERKS AND BUCKS F.A.

 

Important the Club/Team Secretary is responsible for making these rules known to all team players. The team affiliation lasts for a year and then you will need to renew it. You can collect an affiliation form from the league coordinator (Vicky). Please hand the completed affiliation form back to the league coordinator and then the league coordinator will then send it off for you. There is a fee of £5 to be paid however this will be included in the league entrance fee. The league organiser will also inform you when your teams’ renewal date is.           

 

PLEASE NOTE: The management of Shenley Leisure Centre reserve the right to enforce a ban or expel any team or individual who in their opinion consistently ignores or breaks the rules, but in particular relating to rule 1, 2, 3 & 19.

 

 

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW!

 

1. League Venue:

 

The league venue chosen is the newly laid Astroturf pitch at shenley leisure centre. The venue comes complete with indoor changing facilities, a sports bars & onsite parking.

 

2. League Tables:

 

You will be able to monitor you teams league position, by visiting our web-site www.shenleyleisurecentre.co.uk or by checking the advertisement board next to the Astroturf.

 

3. End of Season Presentation Evening:

 

The Presentation evening will take place on the last league night.

Please note that Shenley Leisure centre reserves the right to withhold any trophies from teams that may have money owing from debt accrued throughout the season;

 

Everyone has the chance of winning:

 

Premiership & Division 1 Winners will receive Free Entry into the following league, a team trophy and a £20 bar drinks voucher.  

The Winners team names will go up on the honour boards in the bar and will be engraved on the football league shields.

 

Premiership & Division 1 Runners Up will receive a team trophy and free entry in to the next league.

 

Cup Night Winners will receive a team trophy, the team name will be printed on the football league honour board in the bar and the team name will be engraved on to the Shenley Cup.  

 

There will be two cup nights running throughout the season. There will be no weekly fees to be paid on the night of the semi-finals and final.

 

Affective from the start of the 2004/2005 season teams will be competing for the:

 

 

“Ryan Pearce Fair Play Award”

 

 

This award has been integrated in the 2004/2005 season in tribute to 18year old Ryan Pearce who was tragically killed in a road accident in August 2004. Ryan was a regular player for Bunky Chollox team, who have played in the league for 19years. Ryan was not only a skilful young player but a true sportsman. The award is a fitting tribute to his memory.

The single team from either league with the least booking points during league games (does not include cup competitions) will be the winners of the award at the end of the season:

 

  • Yellow cards will count as one point
  • Red would count as two points,
  • In the event of a tie the team with the most league points will be the winners
  • In the event of a further tie, the team with the most goals scored will be the overall winners.

 

4. Personal Accident Insurance:

 

Please note that shenley leisure centre does not provide any insurance cover for teams to cover personnel injury.

 

Shenley Leisure Centre cannot be held responsible for personnel injury and strongly recommend that teams take out their own insurance polices to cover such eventualities.
